Carole Bigot has been painting for close to 7 years. She had little artistic inclination until meeting a well known landscape artist in San Francisco in 2003, who mentored her for two years, eventually encouraging her to exhibit her work in 2005. Lucky? . . .talented?... a little of each, Carole loves oil painting, and easily bored, she doesn’t hover in any area of art too long. From landscapes and still life to cupcakes and abstracts, Carole has yet to settle on one genre of painting. The thrill of making her paintings ‘pop’ is still alive and well, and a motivating force in her colorful work. She has begun a new series of work involving close-up views of ordinary objects in random order, developing depth of colors and shadows layer after layer. Symbolism and a sense of humor in her work is marked; something she encourages the viewer to seek.
Carole exhibits her work at Marin Museum of Contemporary Art, Studio Gallery SF, and at the Napa Valley Mustard Festival (2008, award winner 2009, 2010). Her work has also graced the cover of Marin Magazine (Oct. 2008). She lives in Marin County with her husband and two teenagers and has a studio at Mark Drive Studios in San Rafael, California.
